Spellblade Patch Notes 0.1.4 - May 25th, 2024

Goal of this patch was to add more content through equipment, ablities and status effects. Additionally, to balance some of the existing content for Shop mode. I also wanted  a way to scale burn/thorns/healing bloom strategies by getting even more stacks for them!


Ability Changes

  • Added Marked Strike, a Martial ability that deals a small amount of flat damage and applies Mark.
  • Whiplash now applies Mark.
  • Added several new Burn abilities

Status Effect Changes

  • Incinerate can no longer stack.Incinerate now deals damage equal to burn stacks * 1. However this damage now scales with % Fire Multiplier. (This is a nerf as it used to be Burn stacks * Incinerate stacks)
  • New Status Effect: Mark - On weapon trigger, consume all stacks of Mark to increase the weapon effect by that much. (Intended for physical weapon damage wielders - a magic specific equivalent to be added later)

Stat Changes

  • New Stat: StatusEffectBonusStacks, additional stacks of a status effect. This effect is very very strong with certain effects so it maybe limited to a specific status effect in the future. (i.e. BurnBonusStacks, EsperHexBonusStacks).


Equipment Changes

  • Added Igniter Equipment Set (Spell | Fire Damage Multiplier + StatusEffectBonusStacks)
  • Added Duelist Set (Martial | Dueling Trait, does well with Riposte/Counterattacks, focuses on Weapon and Crit Chance)
  • Added Cleric Set (Restoration | Weapon Training + Block Training + Light traits on all pieces of gear)
  • Added Engineer Set (Technology | Focuses on gaining a large amount of block and Thorns)
  • Added Hexmage Set (Esper | Shadow magic and stacking EsperHex to deal damage at the end of sequence, and EsperFlame to deal damage equal to amount of EsperHex on sequence tick.)
  • Added Mainhand weapon Spellblade's for each element. (Water, Fire,  Earth, Electric, Shadow, Light) 


Trait Changes

  • Removed Merchant trait.
  • Streamlined all the elemental traits to be % multipliers.
  • Updated Dueling to 6 instead of 3. (Due to addition of Duelist Set)
  • Tweaked Spellblade Trait damage.

Mode Changes

  • Shop: Starting gold is now 3, gain 4 gold per turn which increased by 1 and several stages though out the game.

Bug Fixes:

  • Resolution scaling works now. Fixed to 720p for browers for now.
  • Updated post-combat stats to properly calculate damage/healing/block provided from status effects.
  • Reworked combat log to provide 3 different messages, Effect Trigger, Status Effect Trigger, Status Effect Application.
  • Refactored combat log reporting code.
  • Refactored Opponent AI to make it slightly smarter and more responsive.
  • Properly show accurate gold interest gained when Income Tooltip is displayed.
  • Several other things as this game is under major development.
  • End screen now shows up properly. (Which tells you to restart the browser -this will be fixed in a future patch.)
